It takes courage to create quality series. Interview with Finnish screenwriter and director Tiina Lymi

Last September, the Serial Killer Festival screened the hit series Welfare Warriors (Sisäilmaa, 2021). The three-episode comedy mini-series follows overworked male and female employees of the Labour Office after the tragic death of their colleague. The series was directed by Tiina Lymi, who also delivered a masterclass at the festival. We talked about her transition from acting to writing and directing, the themes that inspire her projects, and the role of public television.

A film about the sounds of Los Angeles as perceived by plants, animals, and people

In November, Alison O’Daniel was a guest at the One World International Documentary Film Festival. There we talked together about how the film was created, what fascinated her about the tuba theft stories, how her personal experience of deafness influenced the structure of the film, or what are the unexplored possibilities of captioning.
